The Colonel Bath CBI Case<\/strong> has stirred national outrage after police officers brutally assaulted a senior army officer\u2019s family. The High Court has since transferred the case to the CBI to ensure justice is done transparently.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Brutal Assault by Police Officers. On the night of 13\u201314 March, Colonel Pushpinder Singh Bath, along with his wife and son, stopped at a roadside eatery. Suddenly, a group of 7\u201312 men attacked them using fists and sticks. The Colonel suffered a fractured arm, and his son sustained serious head injuries.
Shockingly, the attackers turned out to be police officers\u2014the very people expected to protect.
Delay and Inaction by Chandigarh Police. Despite clear CCTV footage, the police delayed filing an FIR by eight days. Even then, they registered it against “unknown persons.”
The court noted this reluctance to act and called it \u201calarming,\u201d especially since the accused were police officers. Colonel Bath approached the High Court. He demanded a CBI probe, alleging: Pressure from the police department, threats and bribe offers, a biased local investigation
The High Court issued notices to the Punjab Government and the CBI. It asked them to respond by 28 March 2025. It also formed an SIT but excluded officers from the Punjab police cadre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
